My Disney Pocket Watch Collection

It's a small collection, I'll be the first one to admit it, but one which will inevitably grow over time.  This collection all started one day when I was out Christmas shopping for Amy Q. (Sorry I can't spell your last name), and on the spur of the moment I decided that I wanted to get the standard, sold in every Disney store I've ever been in, Mickey pocket watch.  That pocket watch has since been lost by someone I moronically lent it to, but that's okay.

Pocket Watches I Have (All Three Of Them)

The 1997 Mickey Valentine's Day Watch - has Mickey in a nice suit with a hat, looking awfully romantic.  I got this as a gift for myself for Valentine's day.

Winnie the Pooh "Tug Of Pooh" Gold Watch - one of my favourite scenes from The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh involves this very scene, where everyone is trying to get Pooh unstuck from Rabbit's door.  It only seemed natural to have this watch as part of the collection.

Goofy 65th anniversary Pocket Watch - people call me goofy all the time, so why not?  Really though, this is quite a lovey watch, with Goofy's smiling face practically popping out at you when you open the watch (It has a lid.)

My Adventures in Walt Disney World

The first time I went to The Holy Land, as some people call it, was in 1987.  I was a young lad, about ten at the time, and had little experience going to theme parks with large cartoon characters walking around.  A few of the memories I have from then involve having Goofy steal my hat and throwing it into a nearby fountain, and also going on Space Mountain and having my eyes shut the whole time while screaming.  A lot of good that's going to do.  I also remember going to the EPCOT center, seeing "Mehico" as Peter Santigian called it back then, and airport security stopping us for having toy guns in our luggage.  We didn't get those in "Mehico", though.

I went there a few times over the next few years, and had more fun.  I visited from August 14-17, 1997 all by my little self.  I made a promise sometime around December that somehow, I would get to see WDW during the 25th anniversary.  Even though I got there and had exactly one hundred dollars to my name, I managed to have the best vacation of my life.  I got plenty of 25th anniversary souvenirs (some even free) and learned a lot about surviving when you don't have that much money but want to get souvenirs and still eat.  I also got to see the making of the 36th animated feature, Mulan.  One of the animators there was nice enough to sketch me a little drawing and sign it for me.  I managed to get another such signed sketch when I mistook one of the animators for a tourist.  He was wearing a Fat Albert t-shirt.  Ah, memories.
